Learn how you can become involved in the Republican National Convention 2020 - WVVA TV

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WVVA) – We’re just 9 months away from the Republican National Convention. The fall media walk-through was held in Charlotte, North Carolina Tuesday.

“We’ve seen incredible interest what it’s going to look like here in august next year,” Vice President of Committee of Arrangements, Max Everett said.

“We’re halfway there and super excited about all of the interest that we’ve received thus far and we’re not even in 2020 yet,” Director of Communications, Jill Burleson added.

If you’d like to be apart of the Convention now is the time to sign up.

“We’re seeking 8,000 volunteers to help put on the Convention and need all hands on deck. We would love smiling faces from across the country to welcome delegates and media to the ‘Queen City,” Burleson revealed.

Delegates of the Republican Party will select the party’s nominees for President and Vice President in the 2020 Presidential Election.

Now is the time to secure your reservation. So far 14,000 hotel rooms have been reserved for the Convention.

“We really want you to be thinking ahead. But one of our goals here is to reach out to people who can’t make it to Charlotte, Everett said. “But for those who are with delegates or other groups they should definitely start looking at where they’re going to live, where they’re going to stay, and what they are going to do here.”

According to Everett there will be more than 50,000 attendees, the experience will also be unique for those who can’t make it to Charlotte.

“We’re going to be working with state parties, other folks around the country so they can have viewing parties and things like that. When we start to expand out on our news channels we want people to be able to experience what it’s like to be at a Convention, just the energy and the excitement. This is the milestone where you nominate a President and so we think it’s really important for people to just be engaged that and it’s really going to be a great show,” he explained.

The Republican National Convention will be held at the Spectrum Center Arena from Monday, August 24th through Thursday, August 27th.
