Free National Parks Day Today - WeatherNation

Since 1994, the National Parks Service has been observing National Public Lands Day on the 4th Saturday in September every year.

This day is to celebrate the connection between people and green space in their community, inspire environmental stewardship, and encourage use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits.

What that also means — you can visit any national park coast to coast for free!

But before you head out to go camping or even hike this weekend, make sure you know what the weather is going to be like so you can dress accordingly and have everything you need.

For the Northwest, temperatures will plunge on Saturday for places like Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks as a powerful storm system impacts the region.

There also will be Winter Weather alerts from Friday night through Sunday with blizzard conditions even possible in some locations.

Because travel will become extremely difficult from this storm system, some of the parks might be closed so make sure to call ahead or check online to get the latest information.
