GENOA, Wis. (WXOW) — The Genoa National Fish Hatchery hosted family fun day, a new event to inspire families to get outside and explore nature.
Kids could get an up close look at different species of birds and fish. The goal of this event was to encourage families to head into the great outdoors.
“We have so many really wonderful natural resources in this area but being outside and spending time in nature has a lot of health benefits,” said Raena Parsons, Environmental Education Specialist for Genoa National Fish Hatchery. “It can make people a little bit more relaxed. It can help with attention with kids too.”
There were scavenger hunts, nature based story times, and even a guided bird hike that people could attend. The next family focused activity at the fish hatchery is Kids Ice Fishing Day on February 1st.
