Knicks in danger of not seeing national television again - New York Post

The Knicks could be done on national television for the rest of the season.

The Knicks already were shown no love for the holidays when the schedule came out in August, as they were not on the five-game Christmas slate like they had been in years past.

While TNT was to telecast the Knicks game Dec. 26 at Brooklyn, the network zapped it last week for the Rockets matchup against, ironically, Kristaps Porzingis and the surging Mavericks.

The Knicks entered Monday’s game against Washington with a 7-23 record, and their final national game on TNT, slated for Jan. 10, appears in jeopardy if Zion Williamson is not back on the court for the moribund Pelicans (7-23).

Williamson has yet to make his regular-season debut after knee surgery that occurred right before he was supposed to grace the Garden during preseason.

After a free-agency dud, the Knicks were to play in just three national games (ESPN-TNT) this season. Their home victory over Porzingis’ Mavericks counted as the first on Nov. 14, and now that may end up their only national game.

Meanwhile, their former coach David Fizdale, fired earlier this month, should get some national exposure. An industry source confirmed Fizdale will at some point this season make his return to ESPN as an analyst, a role he held before landing with the Knicks two years ago.

With Marcus Morris (sore Achilles) and Taj Gibson (illness) out, starters against the depleted Wizards were Elfrid Payton, RJ Barrett, Kevin Knox II, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson.

Wizards coach Scott Brooks was hot about Isaiah Thomas’ two-game suspension for walking into the stands after a vicious heckling by Philly fans behind the basket as he shot free throws.

Brooks said the fans “crossed the line,” referred to them as “knuckleheads” and “an embarrassment” and spoiling “great memories for kids” seated nearby.
