A lightning-caused brush fire sparked on Tonto National Forest land near New River, north of Phoenix on Tuesday night, officials said.
The fire was burning on the New River Mesa, according to a tweet from Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical.
Tonto National Forest officials said there were no immediate threats to residents or structures.
The fire was visible from Interstate 17 and nearby communities, including Anthem, New River, Black Canyon City and Cave Creek, forest officials said.
Fire officials were monitoring the situation. Further details were not available.
The New River Mesa is east of New River and northwest of the Cave Creek area.
